Speaking on Sunday during a church service at Impopong Methodist Church in Kilgoris, Narok County, President William Ruto vowed that his government will not tolerate any acts of economic sabotage or corruption.
“Hawa cartels ya mambo ya mafuta watakipata! Hawawezi kuhepa kwa sababu haiwezekani katika taifa letu la Kenya”, Ruto said.
The head of state also added that some individuals were taking advantage of the Tensions in the Middle East to manufacture artificial supply concerns, falsifying domestic fuel stock levels, creating public anxiety.
“We have a problem in the Middle East, yet they still want to create another problem in the country,” he said.
The remarks comes after comes amid heightened scrutiny of the energy sector following the dramatic arrests and resignation of three top energy officials over allegations of facilitating the procurement of emergency fuel cargo at inflated prices and manipulation of fuel stock data.
The three top energy officials; EPRA Director General Daniel Kiptoo, Kenya Pipeline Company Managing Director Joe Sang, and Petroleum PS Mohamed Liban.

The president also vowed that his administration is going to deal with all cartels in all government sectors.
“This is the administration that is going to deal firmly, decisively and conclusively with all cartels. We finished the cartels in the fertiliser sector, we finished the cartels in the sugar sector, we finished the cartels in the coffee sector, we will deal with the cartels in the oil sector,” he said.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi also addressed the issue, saying Kenya remains economically stable despite global pressures and is not among the 29 countries affected by instability.
