Matatu operator Super Metro Limited Announces new Rongai Route

Popular transport company Super Metro Limited has announced it will begin operating a new route to Ongata Rongai. It announced the new route in a statement on its Facebook Page on Monday, March 30.

“New route alert!!!Today. Rongai, here we are!!!! Thank you for your continued support,” Super Metro announced.

However, Super Metro did not specify when operations on the Rongai route will officially begin or where the designated stage will be located.

Super Metro offers services to commuters in : Nairobi CBD, Makongeni, Thika, Juja, Roysambu, Westlands, Kikuyu, Mfangano, Bus Station,Malaa, Kitengela, Kabiria, Ngong,Juja Farm,Regen,Kinoo and Kahawa West.

The announcement highlights its growing dominance in transport network in Nairobi and its surrounding areas.

Super Metro has expanded its services to offer commuters and businesses a wider range of transportation and delivery options. The company offers dedicated shuttle services, to ensure passengers experience smooth, stress-free travel. Shuttles provide reliable pick-up and drop-off services, with spacious, well-maintained vehicles designed to offer comfort and punctuality for travelers across the city. The company charges fares starting from Ksh 100 on major routes across Nairobi, with prices varying depending on the time of travel.

Super metro controversies

Key controversies involving Super Metro include:

  1. Fatal Passenger Incidents: The most notable one happened on March 2025 where Gilbert Thuo Kimani died after being pushed from a bus along Thika Road over a Sh30 fare dispute.
  2. Violent Crew Behavior: These incidents have prompted widespread public outcry regarding the safety and behavior of staff, with some passengers reporting a pattern of aggressive, “mob-like” behavior by certain Super Metro crews.
